Sport Aikido Australia's main intention and purpose is the facilitating, organising and administration of the sporting and competition elements of Aikido in Australia. It is the regional representative body for the Worldwide Sport Aikido Federation registered in Switzerland of which it is a founder member and holds a permanent seat on the WSAF Executive Committee.

Sport Aikido Australia hosts, training camps, referee seminars, examinations, provides insurance, organises international, national, state and local tournaments and sends official national teams to the World Championships and international competitions.
