WHAT WE DO
Sport Aikido Australia's main intention and purpose is the facilitating, organising and administration of the sporting and competition elements of Aikido in Australia. It is the regional representative body for the Worldwide Sports Aikido Federation registered in Switzerland of which it is a founder member and holds a permanent seat on the WSAF Executive Committee.
Sport Aikido Australia hosts, training camps, referee seminars, examinations, provides insurance, organises international, national, state and local tournaments and sends official national teams to the World Championships and international competitions.
KEY OBJECTIVES
To provide unified international, national, state and local tournaments and championships in which all competitors are free to participate regardless of lineage or affiliation.
To maintain the internationally agreed competition rules for both randori and embu of the Worldwide Sport Aikido Federation.
​To maintain the standards and policies of the Worldwide Sport Aikido Federation and follow the relevent guidelines of the Australian Sports Commission.
To promote drugs free sport to provide an environment where competitors have the confidence to compete using only their natural sporting ability.
To ensure the financial sustainability of the sport of aikido in Australia.
To ensure the health, safety and well-being of competitors by following the guidelines of the Australian Sports Commission.
To recognize all other member organisations of WSAF around the world.
To promote the concept and practice of competitive aikido in the states and territories of Australia.
To provide effective and efficient management structure to aid the development of Sport Aikido in the states and territories of Australia.
To support the movement towards Olympic recognition.
OUR PLEDGE
As the regional representative of the Worldwide Sport Aikido Federation, Sport Aikido Australia will promote efforts to develop Sport Aikido clubs and organizations in other nations of the Oceania region. Sport Aikido Australia will where practicable assist them in becoming self-sufficient and self-determining entities capable of applying to have their respective nations become members of the WSAF.
